@@safffff1000 60-80 grams of xylitol is a L O T..... and I am not sure who told you to do that or why. Our bodies male 15 grams of xylitol per day and it is produced and excreted quickly when you have small amounts during the day. I recommend 1-2 grams of xylitol (2-3 mints) at the end of meals. I do not recommend adding xylitol into foods or drinks unless you are doing this for a reason - maybe on a diabetic diet - for example. For oral health you need just a TINY amount ( 1/5- 1/10th of a TEASPOON) AFTER eating.... This stimulates a flow of saliva which heals your teeth and gums. If I were you, I'd try using BioGaia immune health probiotic - Take two of the small capsules every morning with a cold drink ....and I think you will get your digestive health in shape very quickly. Very thankful for this information and this Doctor to give us this valuable information, I have used Xylitol and Dr. Phillips procedures, my gums and teeth have improved immensely, have not been to a dentist in two years, my gums have healed and I have healthy teeth. It has been a blessing!!
I have been using Dr Ellie’s system for eight months. Today we saw a new dentist, 8 months after seeing our last one. She was flabbergasted my teeth were so clean for not having had s cleaning for 8 months! She didn’t do one this afternoon and said we will review at my next appt in six months time 🎉 She commended me on my ‘wonderfully clean teeth’ ❤ Thank you Dr Ellie 😊
I'm absolutely sold on xylitol! I've been using it throughout the day for the past five months, and my teeth look fantastic-no plaque, no bad breath in the morning. Plus, the sensitivity in one tooth that I had for years is completely gone! I can enjoy smooth, white teeth with xylitol, proper brushing technique, and long breaks between meals and drinks. Thank you, Dr. Ellie, for your teachings!
@@wilsonsmanz You take xylitol after eating or drinking; not before. Instructions for use: Take at least 6-7 grams total per day of xylitol, but no need to take any more than 10 grams/day at the most. Use it directly in the mouth, all by itself without mixing it in anything. Take it in small 1g (1/4 teaspoon granules, or 2 mints) doses all throughout the day - take it after every meal, snack or drink of liquid (even water), and then do not eat or drink anything else (not even water) for at least 1-2 hours or longer to allow the saliva to remineralize the teeth and for all the work to happen. Longer is better! These "mouth resting" periods are of the utmost importance to being able to heal your mouth.
@mozamona151 There are many good ones. I use both mints and granules - for the mints, I use Dr. Ellie's Zellies brand. For granules, my fave is Now Foods Xylitol, and I've also used XyloSweet by Xlear. For granules, you only want 100% pure xylitol with no other added ingredients, and non-GMO.
Switching away from fluoride to xylitol products and nano hydroxyapatite, my teeth and gums have become SOOOO healthy. All my dental concerns have been eliminated. My dentist thinks I've been "doing my homework" but I really just stopped using conventional dental products. I chew xylitol gum a few times a week to and it keeps away plaque. I love this video because now I understand why these things have helped me so much.
I'm a retired dentist in the USA. It should be noted that xylitol is DEADLY for dogs. If you are going to have xylitol products in your home, and you have dogs, use xylitol products carefully so your dogs don't accidentally consume them. Xylitol is common in sugarless gum, mints, mouth rinses, and many other products.

@@dr.elliephillipsI started your system last October. Over the last month my lips felt sore and almost like they were dry but they weren't to touch. Do u know if anyone has ever suffered a reaction like this please? Regards, Kim
Great advice from this dentist. Although I didn't have any big problems, I used her advice about brushing (gums too) and using xylitol and noticed a much fresher feeling all day. At first I couldn't find xylitol anywhere and had to order it on Amazon, but now I see it everywhere on shelves from METRO to WHOLE FOODS. I bought a one pound bag for about $8. I take a gram or so after meals and after brushing. You will notice a smooth satiny sheen coat the teeth. Oil pulling with coconut oil is also very effective in removing stains and has an anti bacterial effect. Thank you Dr. Phillips!
I have to tell you that Dr. Ellie does not recommend coconut oil in the mouth because it kills all the bacteria, both good and bad, but you need the good kind in there to protect teeth and gums.
@@missp.buttons3602 All of what I just said is most certainly true and comes straight from Dr. Ellie. You yourself even stated in your original message that coconut oil has an antibacterial effect - antibacterial means kills bacteria.
I don't know about everyone else... But I certainly feel more confident in trusting your method now after learning the connection between Xylitol , the amazing birch tree and the beautiful indigenous people. ❤
I want to say a big thank you . I came across your RUclips channel and decided to start using xylit . Since I do not have access to your mouth care system in Germany. I have been practising since August 2024. It has been really a very great experience. Glad you share your experience with the world. God richly bless you ❤
I lived in Moscow for a time some years ago and saw many beautiful birch trees; unfortunately back then I had no idea of its benefits but though it's years later I'm very grateful to have stumbled on your channel and both my husband and I aare now using xylitol every day and are teeth and mouths are much better. Thank you!
Dr. Ellie - your dental advice is one of the absolute best, most practical things I have ever come across through the Internet. My mouth is so much healthier thanks to you (and your Zellies are great!). Thank you for posting!
I used to buy Zellies thru a shipping provider who buys from USA and ships to Asia. However, I couldn't keep up paying for the high shipping cost, which is higher than the product itself. It is a pity, I did enjoy Zellies mints and gums. I did once reach out to Zellies about where your xylitol is sourced and your representative replied to inform me that the gum are sourced from birchwood in USA/Sweden and the mint is from non-gmo corn husk. I was wondering why you didn't mention anything about the mints being made by corn husk. Just talking about xylitol from birchwood can give impression to consumers that all your products are made of just that. Could you kindly make another video explaining the process of xylitol extraction from corn husk and how it is tested to ensure it is 100% xylitol. That would be so much appreciation Dr.
My intent in this video is to show the way Nature provides. The fact that xylitol is in fibers of fruits, vegetables and even the human body is amazing. Our bodies make 15 grams of xylitol each day. Xylitol is in strawberries and raspberries - and I often suggest that families that cannot get xylitol mints that they can end meals with fresh berries. Since the 1950s there have been many advances in the way xylitol is manufactured and produced. There are scare mongers out who suggest "corn-derived" is somehow worse than birch - are promoting a lie. Once xylitol is extracted it does not matter if it is from wood or fiber sources. If you have a corn "allergy" you can consume xylitol from "corn" as it has nothing to do with the "corn". Xylitol is also extracted from oats and cane sugar fibers -and sometimes through a fermentation process that is similar to the making of beer. The reason we need a various forms of xylitol is that the mints need a finer grade that is able to compress. This kind of xylitol is more expensive and i guess could be called an even "higher grade". There is no difference between the different sources provided they are non-GMO and are from a trusted source that tested for purity. Those who make a big deal about the "source" os xylitol may either be misguided or perhaps they have competitive products.
HELLO DR. PHILLIPS. My wife and I saw your video about how to avoid dental cleaning by using Xylitol. We did not know that such a product existed. I have the problem that within a week of having my teeth clean in a dentist office I would develop plaque in the bottom teeth, I have to use a dental pick and scaler in order to keep it clean until the next dentist appointment. Well, the same day we saw your video we went and purchased a pound of Xylitol. For the last 3 weeks I've been cleaning my teeth after eating and immediately, would put a small amount of Xylitol in my mouth, keep it for about ten to fifteen minutes, sometimes I spitted out and on others swallow the saliva. Since then, I haven't see any plaque in my teeth and they look and feel cleaner than ever. We did not know that plaque was caused by a bacteria. Every time I asked my dentists they would say: "Is the saliva" . We really are thanks full to you. We have a question: Would the corn cobs Xylitol produces the same effects as the birch wood one? Is less expensive and the company that produces it says that is better for the environment because otherwise it would goes to waste and the Birch wood would not be harmed. We would greatly appreciate your answer. Thank you for having a channel that brings honest information to your subscribers. Tony And Maria
I have used Dr. Phillips system for about 6 months and have found it to be very beneficial in dramatically improving my dental health! However, one challenge I've had was the use of Xylitol (gum and/or mints) because of digestive issues...primarily bacterial overgrowth! I found that the Xylitol caused increased bloating and reflux due to feeding this bacteria. So, if you have GI issues or are currently being treated for H. Pylori or SIBO please proceed with caution in using. Other than that the system had worked quite well! This concludes my PSA!
I started using Xylitol toothpaste and chewing the Xylitol tablets you suggested, about 8 months ago, and my mouth, teeth and gums are definitely way cleaner and healthier than they have been for decades. I still need to do better with the 'after meal' routine, but I've had noticeably good results from just doing the 'amateur' program. I had never hear of Xylitol before I stumbled across one of your videos about 9 months ago, read up about it, and started using it. So thank you for all you do for us Doc, we appreciate it, cheers!

Thanks sincerely very much Dr. Ellie. I have been on your prescribed mouth care system for the last 14 months. I am extremely pleased to share that I have been fortunate in experiencing all the benefits you suggested. As a result I’ve become a vehement supporter and proponent of your system. I am not surprised but am really disappointed that xylitol is never mentioned by ANY dentist or periodontist in the US, as part of a regimen for good oral hygiene .
In Denmark the average adult has a quarter of a tooth filled - that is it. In Finland they hand out xylitol in preschool and come in #2 on having the best teeth in the world. As long as people in the US understand that the goal here is not to compete for the best oral health in the world... The goal here is to keep the entire dental industry/complex happy....(equipment, insurance, associations, dental education "partners"...)

Thanks Dr. Ellie for your sharing of wonderful information about xylitol. I have been using xylitol for a year and a half, and I have had good results so far. I am also implementing some of your other dental care techniques and using the Crest toothpaste. My dentist told me there was no cure or reversal of tooth decay and I didn't want to just accept it and quit, I knew there had to be answers. That's when I found your books and xylitol info. I was so enthusiastic about the find last year that I had to share the information on my channel. I ended up doing recipes like making your own home-made mints flavoured with different extracts, making your own mouthwash, toothpaste, candies and even lollipops! My hope was that people would be able to make their own xylitol products at home from the powder and save money especially if they have a large family...or just for fun. I have used xylitol powder for over a year now and give it to the kids after they eat something acidic or sweet, I think that it is super important to know this information and share it with family and others who are suffering from tooth decay. I think things are changing, thanks to your sharing of this information. ❤
I don't have "Sugar". The only sweet thing I use is just Xylidol as you described it here. In certain stores sometimes it's called original Birch-Sugar from Finland.
This is such an informative video. I so enjoyed your explanation of the birch tree and the role it plays with Xylitol. You are the ONLY dentist that I know of that talks so in depth about oral issues and how to correct them. I am glad that you explained that it's important to just have a few and let our mouths rest rather than to gobble them up (which I was doing). I can tell just by looking at you that you take really good care of yourself in general and it's motivated me not to just take care of my mouth but my body as well. I'm going to order some of the supplements that you recommend on your web-site. Thank you again! Very appreciated!

Thank you! Xilitol is a biofilm ( where harmful bacteria proliferate)disruptor. Used orally it helps reduce bad bacteria and promotes beneficial ones. For some of us , ingesting Xilitol can disrupt intestinal biome due to its potent effect.

In the USSR (in Russia, Ukraine, and Belarus), they used to sell birch tree sap as "juice" in the stores. They had there these rotating glass cones about a gallon each where you could order birch tree sap, tomato juice, apple or pear juice, etc. When I was growing up in that part of the world, I always thought that paying for slightly sweet water with a particular taste that was sold as "birch tree sap" was ridiculous. But now I understand that I was wrong. Oral health back then was much better and in part probably because people consumed birch tree sap that contained xylitol.

You super duper excellent at your work i would say... been very helpful the day i followed directions given by really helpful... Very good knowledge and explained to easily and beautifully. Thank you so much for saving my teeth🙏🙏🙏
Actually it should be taken after every meal, snack or drink of liquid; so even if you only eat one meal a day (OMAD), you probably still drink liquids throughout the day, right? Take xylitol after you have any liquids, a glass of water or whatever, and then do the same mouth-resting period (at least 1-2 hours with no more food or liquid; longer is better) to allow the fresh mineral-enriched saliva to work on healing the teeth and gums. If you don't even drink liquids enough to total 6-10g/day, then you can work your extra doses in just somewhere else throughout the day.

Dear Dr. Ellie. Thanks for the wonderful advice. May I ask if aminfluoride is acceptable? I know sodium fluoride is the key, but I see aminfluoride (olaflur) often in the ingredients?
I do not recommend The benefits that are "claimed" are ones you WILL achieve by the sodium fluoride products (that are a part of my system of care) - but you will achieve them by natural remineralization and not by the formation of odd chemical compounds.Stannous fluoride and this fluoride are aggressive to bacteria - and I believe they disrupt biofilm in ways that you do not want. Most patients do not realize that there is a constant "line up" of "shiny new products" presented by dentistry. Companies delegate top salespeople to go to dental meetings and influential dental office to create "buzz". The products are marketed - and generate the desired $$$. During this time, most savvy dental professionals shake their heads, unable to compete with the marketing dollars and the wave of interest in the next miracle product. This game began with Colgate Total (later banned for its toxicity) then charcoal ( banned for its abrasiveness) then MI paste (it did not work, but the ADA had a stake in the IP of the product and so it was promoted for a time) and now Nanohydroxyapatite ( brilliant digital marketing - but just wait...) and this "new" "better" fluoride. I recommend a tried and trusted approach, and I suggest you wait until the truth about this product is revealed - which usually takes about five years...Then when the product is banned, our next "shiny new one" will enter- stage left......Its been going on like this for years. I think we may find this product disrupts biofilm and could contribute to worse periodontal outcomes - but that is just my guess....and I have no evidence for this. I just will not be recommending.
Idk if I missed it , but how much xylitol do you take per day if it's in the crystals??? For adults and children? I found that it's cheaper and lasts longer if it's in the crystalized form Please let me know! I bought a big bag of it and the mini packets for the kids 8 months - 5 years old
Using xylitol daily made me have very unbalanced mouth flora. I would wake up with bad breath and unpleasant mouth taste. With experience I would recommend using just after meals and with coconut to pull. My recommendation would be to use natural oils like peppermint before bed and throughout the day to keep bad bacteria at bay without unbalancing mouth flora.

I've taken to using Xylitol as a sweetener for my coffee. Now I'm starting to wonder about adding Lactobacillus Salivarius and all the other beneficial oral bacteria at the same time. This could be in the form of drops or a tablet.
I use xylitol powder, I put a small amount on my toothbrush, and I brush my teeth with the powder, then I put toothpaste on the toothbrush and brush my teeth, I do this process one or two times a day, do you think this way of using xylitol is good?

Xylitol is not bad for the heart. You are referring to a very flawed study in 2024 paid for by businessmen to discredit xylitol because they were interested in marketing a competing product. Dr. Ellie has addressed this issue in articles on her site and also made a video on here on that subject. Xylitol is still safe.
Dr. Ellie advises to not mix xylitol into food or liquids for oral health purposes because that will dilute it, and then it will be way, way less effective.

All 100% xylitol are vegan (many xylitol mints or gum has a mixture of sorbitol or other sugar substitutes to save cost), but tackling the fermentable carbs in the diet may be a better approach.
However Spry and Epic mints are both very very similar- ingredients practically the same - texture is different though, and Cherry Berry flavor is unique. You can also purchase a bag of regular Xylitol and consume that.

If I were you, I'd try using BioGaia immune health probiotic -

I have been using Dr Ellie’s system for eight months. Today we saw a new dentist, 8 months after seeing our last one. She was flabbergasted my teeth were so clean for not having had s cleaning for 8 months! She didn’t do one this afternoon and said we will review at my next appt in six months time 🎉 She commended me on my ‘wonderfully clean teeth’ ❤ Thank you Dr Ellie 😊
I believe Dr. Ellie doesn't like people getting their teeth cleaned. Unless I have a major problem, I don't plan to ever go back to a dentist.
@@barbk2297 So when you take it, how long do you take before eating or drinking? And how many times per day do you take it
Did you buy it from the health food store?
Hi @SunrayStar can you mention the product names of xylitol please?
@mozamona151 There are many good ones. I use both mints and granules - for the mints, I use Dr. Ellie's Zellies brand. For granules, my fave is Now Foods Xylitol, and I've also used XyloSweet by Xlear. For granules, you only want 100% pure xylitol with no other added ingredients, and non-GMO.
Switching away from fluoride to xylitol products and nano hydroxyapatite, my teeth and gums have become SOOOO healthy. All my dental concerns have been eliminated.
Dr. Ellie does not recommend oil pulling.
@@SunrayStar That is not true.
@@missp.buttons3602 All of what I just said is most certainly true and comes straight from Dr. Ellie. You yourself even stated in your original message that coconut oil has an antibacterial effect - antibacterial means kills bacteria.

I like your thorough insightful question question and comments❤ good one🫵🏽💯✅️✅️
Corn ? 🤔
Good question.
Why don't you try Xylitol brands made closer to your location? I know it is made in China if that is closer to you.

What is the protocol? I’m new here
I have used Dr.
I buy my xylitol in the sugar form, mix 1/4 tsp with warm water, swish in my mouth for two minutes then I spit it down the sink.

If I'm only eating One Meal A Day is it fine to still chew the 6-10grams throughout the day every few hours? Or does it only have to be after a meal?
Good question, would like to know this too
Actually it should be taken after every meal, snack or drink of liquid; so even if you only eat one meal a day (OMAD), you probably still drink liquids throughout the day, right?

Good question!
I do not recommend
The benefits that are "claimed" are ones you WILL achieve by the sodium fluoride products (that are a part of my system of care) - but you will achieve them by natural remineralization and not by the formation of odd chemical compounds.Stannous fluoride and this fluoride are aggressive to bacteria - and I believe they disrupt biofilm in ways that you do not want.
Very good information as always. Thanks!

Even doing that gives me gas! I try it again every few months but get the same results.
Hi Dr..I want to start my mouth care but I am living in India and i am unable to find your recommended products.
Can you help us to suggest some products those are easily available in India and also pocket friendly.
I chew xylitol, and spit out the spittle along with gum. At 76 yo, I don’t have any cavities.
What’s truly crazy is, once you read The hidden war on health by Alex Pierce you realize how blinded you were about health. That book has serious knowledge
thanks
great book
an obvious ad
I think this guy was watching a cartoon video, then he watched a travel video, then a "get rich quick" video, and then he came here and wrote the same damn thing every place he goes. It's an ad.
🤮🤮🤮
Is your system suitable for oral lichen planus?
I heard about hydroxyapatite as a safe fluoride substitute. What do you think dr Ellie?
In India, we are using leaves of 'Birch Tree' for religious worshipping purposes since ancient times ❤
They grow in India? Up to how far south?
@@TaLeng2023 only in himalayan and kashmir region. They need cold conditions to grow.
I've taken to using Xylitol as a sweetener for my coffee. Now I'm starting to wonder about adding Lactobacillus Salivarius and all the other beneficial oral bacteria at the same time. This could be in the form of drops or a tablet.
You look amazing!
I use xylitol powder, I put a small amount on my toothbrush, and I brush my teeth with the powder, then I put toothpaste on the toothbrush and brush my teeth, I do this process one or two times a day, do you think this way of using xylitol is good?
Thank you for sharing your wisdom & experience.
I’ve been using your system for a while now with good results but I struggle to get Closys & ACT mouthwashes in Australia for anything other than exorbitant prices from overseas.
Could you share the special ingredients which make them unique, and or alternatives which may be available in my part of the world 🙏🏻❤
Following, I'm in Oz too
Ditto, from Australia.
Incredible video!
What about corn based xylitol? Does it provide the same benefits?
Yes - the exact same.
I'd be sure it is a reputable source and non-GMO
@@dr.elliephillips What do you mean by a reputable source? From a store and not from an unknown Amazon brand?Thank you
@@Alien2799 would like to know too 😊
I just bought a bag of her xylitol gums! I’m so excited to try it! I want to make sure not to use it too often. On her website it says only chew 1 after each meal, so that’s what I will do.
AND don't chew for too long.
Chew for 2-10 minutes and then spit out.
It is THIS liquid in your mouth that will heal your teeth and gums - so do not eat or drink afterward for 1-2 hours.
Thanks for yet another helpful video Dr. Ellie. 1 yr 2 wks on your system so far for me !
For those of us who already have first edition of _Kiss Your Dentist Goodbye_ , would you please consider publishing an update narrative with just the things added in the 2nd edition?
I'm a careful spender (cheap) and would rather not have to buy a whole new book.
I am frugal too. I consider the money I spent on the 2cd edition of this wonderful book a wise investment in these instructional videos I am privileged to enjoy for no charge.
The second edition is a COMPLETE re-write.
My publisher was a brute and this was a complete "do over"
He had the vision to make the reading easier for everyone to understand.
Tell you what, I'll send you a refund if you think your money was wasted. LOL!
FYI - I'd appreciate (after you read it) if you would leave a testimonial on Amazon...
Other people may be thinking like you - and I would like to explain this is a totally new book.
I lost the hundreds of testimonials I had received for the first book, so a testimonial from you would be very valuable.
@ Thank you so much! I just ordered using your link and will be sure to leave a review and testimonial after reading it.
@@Robnord1 Hello sir
As in some comment you claim that you reverse three of your tiny cavity complete may I know that they are just spot or have little hole in them
Thank you 🙏
@@Divya_gond Are you asking me to quantify what "tiny" means in terms of mm circumference and depth, or to qualify and compare to something? You asked me this same question one week ago. What is your real question O young and curious one?
Dr. Ellie, your system has been great over the past 6 or so months I've been using it.
Quick question: Is it common to have dry mouth while sleeping and wearing a bruxism guard?
Dr. what about the claim its not good for your heart?
Erythritol is bad for your heart
Xylitol is not bad for the heart. You are referring to a very flawed study in 2024 paid for by businessmen to discredit xylitol because they were interested in marketing a competing product. Dr. Ellie has addressed this issue in articles on her site and also made a video on here on that subject. Xylitol is still safe.
Thank you...l have learnt muchly 😁🎉
I think that Ginkgo biloba is older.... ? Anyway, thanks for another video, I just ordered your book.
It may be - or at least they were around in the dinosaur world together! I think that’s such an exciting thing to consider 🎉
Thanks Doc. Great explanation of Xylitol and its benefits. Perfect for patient education. Dr. R.T. Marmur
I appreciate your interest and support.
I buy xylitol buy the bag. Is this ok? I just mix 1/4 tsp with water rinse for two minutes
You can put it directly in your mouth without water and your mouth will create enough saliva to swoosh with it.
Dr. Ellie advises to not mix xylitol into food or liquids for oral health purposes because that will dilute it, and then it will be way, way less effective.
if I dont drink a TON of water while chewing about 5 gums a day I get VERY weird nerve/muscle sensation on my left foot which has nerve damager. Not sure why
Wait does Birch beer have xylitol in it?! I’m sure it doesn’t but I would be winning if it did! Hahaha.
I know - I thought of that - but there are no studies to prove its benefits- LOL!
Yeah eating Zelle's gum is like Chewing A rubber band with a little flavor added!
if you have pets, make sure none of the xylitol reaches them
🙏🙏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾
And don't kiss your pets in the mouth lol
@@c.d.meloney omg. My dog licked my face. What is the number to 911 ?
Yes, extremely poisonous for dogs from what I’ve read.
The mints are amazing as I have used them with the doctor’s entire system and my mouth has never been healthier!
I have been using the program for 6 months now. It works great. My only concern is the plaque on bottom teeth has gotten browner. I looked for the xylitol crystals to brush my bottom teeth with them however I can't find any of the xylitol crystals, only ground xylitol. Any suggestions? Thank you.
Are you using the MOUTHWATCHERS flossing brushes and targeting these challenged areas when you have the most toothpaste on your brush? These brushes are an essential part of this system.
Here is a hack to help you remove any stubborn stains:

Hi Dr Ellie,Zellie's mints are not available in my country.Which brand do you recommend which contains xylitol and is vegan?
All 100% xylitol are vegan (many xylitol mints or gum has a mixture of sorbitol or other sugar substitutes to save cost), but tackling the fermentable carbs in the diet may be a better approach.
@MrMiaumee
Which brand do you recommend?
@@LifeHell-e5eequal company
Not only are the mints unavailable- no one at all ships Zellue's overseas. Can we imagine how frustrating this is?
However Spry and Epic mints are both very very similar- ingredients practically the same - texture is different though, and Cherry Berry flavor is unique. You can also purchase a bag of regular Xylitol and consume that.
I have been using Xylitol for years, its the only sweetener I use with honey. Xylitol is great saved my teeth and gums ever since.
Thank you for explaining this topic.
My pleasure! Thank you for your interest. 😊
Can you use pure xylitol crystals, instead of mints or gum. If so how would this best be used? Thank you
