Yep. It's insane to me that people would make a stink about such tame (compared to what other games do) bad endings.

The endings were pretty logical and in tune with the characters:
1. Death ending - Everyone that helped MC knows what's going on and can't move on knowing MC died trying to stop what's to come.
2. Cell ending - Astaroth does exactly what he's showed to do all game and manipulates and corrupts everyone he knows with MC being his last target.
3. Evil ending - People don't complain about this one but I just wanted to remind everyone that evil Lauren and Jodie were very hot.

Now if the endings just did a 180 and let's say that you're forced to see the LIs being railed while MC is staring then yeah I'd understand since that would be a very extreme change in tone and style. But they weren't.

I especially dread to think that "backlash" like this would influence Cari's writing in a negative way. I know indie writers who changed their original idea to appease the complainers and the story suffered for it:confused:

Unless he has packed this episode so full of content a playthrough ends up taking 16 hours to complete, which I believe we would all see as a dream come true if that is the case.

Ah. I usually try to avoid the previews so I could't comment on that aspect of the update.

I still believe Orion will be stuck in Eternum for some time but if he's out dating the girls then yeah, he'll probably be back around the mid point.

He'll probably hunt for the treasure with the girls then when he tries to "log off" he'll be in a hospital or in limbo. If he's in limbo he'll have to find a way to get back to his body so maybe Calypso helps him:unsure:

I also believe that Calypso will be summoned to the real world and heal him. It seems like the most obvious and reasonable step concerning everything that we know about Eternum at this moment.

Also if we think from "harem" perspective Calypso is the only character MC can not build harem with unless she will be brought to the real world somehow and this is a good opportunity to introduce her to the real world.

I can imagine other less spectacular rescuers such as Nova's parents returning home or even Noah and Raul could pass by and even catch and punish the shooter. But this will mean that MC will need some time to recover from the injury and will miss the Pirate adventure. Which is highly unprobably.

I don't think that MC will stuck in Eternum for long as supposed in posts above, but I can not exclude such case either.

Ah, sorry mate - I didn't mean to spoil it for you! I just assumed everyone had seen them at this point.

I can see him carrying on the Pirate adventure while "dead", and then logging off to find himself in the hospital or the morgue, confused about what was going on. This way the cliffhanger would be resolved at the mid point.

Or as others have suggested, he summons Calypso and is saved right at the beginning of the episode.

Either way, with how packed the update is, I can't see this dragging on. I am sure Caribdis had to get it out of the way with how much content we have ready for us.

Orion reviving via Caly sounds like the obvious route, but the trouble with that route is that it's the one with hardly any consequences for Orion. Granted, you can make the argument that a possible consequence is that Caly fails in her ritual as a result and that causes a rift between her and Orion. But personally that doesn't sound like a solid reason for Orion to be humbled and become a better person. Better for him to suffer a consequence that affects HIM greatly, rather than something that others will suffer for him.

Personally my preference is either of two routes: either he dies for real and then revives sometime later but with a consequence attached to it that would make him reflect on the gravity of his fuck-up (i.e. learning that he's going to slowly rot away and realizing that the girls are going to watch that happen), or (as I mentioned earlier in this thread) he revives in Limbo and he undergoes a journey of sorts that will make him reflect on his actions and he becomes a somewhat better person out of it, which then frees him back into the world of the living (though with time not having advanced much as Limbo is supposedly a realm separated from time and space).

Given that Orion has already visited Eternum while asleep, continuing the adventure while dying would make sense (after all, it's a time-limited thing, so the gang can't wait after he recovers). I don't know how this will play out, though.

  1. If he just logs back in, Nancy and Nova will freak out, since he's not with either of them. They will disconnect to find him and rush him to the hospital.
  2. If Nova realizes he's late, she might follow him to the pizza place, find him and call the ER. Then Orion finds himself in Eternum, everyone freaks out, but gets the McGuffin, use it to heal Orion and trick the Coyote to get the gem
  3. Or Calypso straight up drags him into Eternum, Penny heals him (hope you gave her the right tome!), they finish the quest and he steps back out through a portal.

4. Orion simply wakes up in the Pirate Server and due to plot convenience Nova will already be there waiting for him. Nan could've texted her to log in early because of an emergency and she left Orion a message about it. Orion on the other hand conveniently has his memories in a jumble or he suffers from temp amnesia due to recently being deceased so he goes along with the idea that he must've logged in after coming back to Nova's place with the Pizza...when in fact his body is on its way to the morgue.

1 and 2 are pretty unlikely since Nova and Nancy are looking pretty happy in the pirate server. I doubt they'd be like that if they knew Orion was dying.

No worries. I've seen plenty of previews before, I just missed the ones for this update and didn't look for them.
I didn't mean that you spoiled it for me. It takes an entire scene from start to finish for me to consider something a spoiler.

Caribdis' plan is to have the next update released before Christmas. It's not set in stone but I'd argue that it's a pretty strong possibility that his prediction will come to fruition.

Yeah I didn't really think too much about him learning his lesson if Calypso saves him, well beyond him almost dying and all that.

I'd prefer not to go the "rot away" route cause that just seems depressing, unless they can find a way to reverse it... I mean wasn't there something about

The teasers could always be misleading. Maybe Carib put them out to get people thinking a certain way, only for the renders in game to be wildly different.

I mean, 1 or 2 screenshot teasers, sure. But if most of your sneaks generally show the girls being fine and smiling then it really makes you think...

Cliffhangers are fine. Pulling a bamboozle on paying patrons anticipating what those sneaks mean when they actually are fake...yeah, I don't think even Cari would do that kind of low blow.

I agree, I don't think Cari would do that either, it would cause a manure pile stink that would never go away.
