Shion, meet your other half of vampire demon Ainswelf, the magic maker that you need to defeat.

Clearly, the world having not known of demons, the horde of wraiths were only the beginning of the calamity that has now arrived. Only Shion knows how bad the situation gets since he can detect the demon's magical energy, which this has been 1000 years in the making between the demons and the descendants of Legreh being affable with magic.

Obviously, Shion cannot muster everything on his own, but with the help of others, he can certainly do his job, while finding ways to defeat the powerful evil even with knowledge that Ainswelf has surpassed in every way. But not to be outdone, even if both Grast and Shion's father Gawain aren't enough by their swordsmanship alone. It's only by the blessing of the fairies that Shion achieved immunity against Ainswelf, even as Raphina saved him in the nick of time to use every ounce of his magic to defeat the vampire demon.

For once, Shion outdid his life's meaning to research on magic, and it served him this time well and good.

It seems like Shion win because of his plot armor rather than his skill. But I've to say that I love that the event that Shion free fairy end up being a reason he's saved from vampire control. It encourage us to do good things

I'm really glad they lessened the annoyance of the new characters and delved more into the seriousness of the plot at hand.

Anyway, this episode changes things, as they dropped a lot of hints of what's in store for this series, and I feel like this will be another wonderful series if properly authored correctly.

While they did finish off the powerful vampire who was supposed to be a hundred times stronger than MC, he still defeated it BECAUSE he had his friends with him, and mostly because the enemy was too cocky. (and of course, the fairy blessing in his blood? owo)
Btw, MC isn't OP, please be mindful of that fact. He is simply knowledgeable because of his research since he was a child.

Okay, this series is becoming a good one like Saihate Paladin. Fair enough, but I'm interested in what the author will come up next. Are they gonna be serious or make another weird joke about the characters? I hope the former.

P.S. The system of powers in MC's world has yet to be known for the people in his era. I can't wait to see what he will do after such facts!

It's not that I dislike this genre but... to add unnecessary fan services to/in/for heroines
and ultimately destroys her character and personality; their purity tarnished because of it,
is the only thing I hope to not happen to them. For that sole purity is my fan service.

It's a wonderful thing that-that demon is dead and Shion and the people survived. It was tough fight and an known specie just appeared and there may more to come, but I'm sure Shion will think of a way to survive somehow.

But now lets me be honest, the episode was boring and the way the demon died is just dumb. He was supposed to be some overpowered villain but got poison after drinking Shion's blood cause he got fairy blessing. It's somewhat oaky but the ridiculous part is, when Gawain and Glass first attacked the demon, that did nothing and after he got poisoned they were able to scratch and cut his hand.

The story was already average to began with but now the plot just keeps going down. Will just hope the finale would be somewhat better, but I doubt, even I can think of few things that can or will happen in next episode.

Finally some pieces of Shion’s past are revealed. Looks like family & higher ups seem to know his genealogy. I’d be pretty pissed knowing I came from a Legreth (who?) magic lineage but no one told me. Looking back, it seems to me that daddy knew about magic and kept it from Shion, in an attempt to shield him from (potentially) his purpose. And why the F@ck does no one know about demons, magic, and incabables (whatever they are). Unfortunately they start revealing with one episode left. Lots of current life questions and if past life is intertwined.

@phantomfandom well yeah as another poster alr mentioned Shion isnt your generic OP I oneshot everything isekai protag, as the demon said he barely got the basics of the basics down in regards of magic, he never had a chance to beat that demon by himself at his current stage, his good deed ended up saving him this time, but yeah without the fairys blessing he and the whole of humanity would have ended right there and then.

honestly this show really feels like it could be something big, the plotlines and the setting are fairly unique and hint to a big, BIG story in this world. It's criminal how low this one is rated for some reason. Though the crux of this show as with many other isekais just seems to be the low production values (a lot of empty filler with just dialogue since animating it would cost money).

Case in point, when Raphina said she would go help Shion it would be much more realistic and faster for her to yell at Bridgett while running towards Shion instead of stopping to talk to her but it's much more easy to animate a still frame.

@phantomfandom Fairy blessing is exactly the reason why he was saved, plus his knowledge of elements he got from 21st century education that enabled him to make blue fire that burned daemon.

It is not exactly plot armor as it his being a good (to receive a blessing which nobody knew existed) and smart (21st century knowledge) person.

Man, I really loved this episode, all these episodes building up and then we got such an imposing enemy that is telling us Shion is basically on baby level when it comes to magic and now we have so many questions about that world, this show better gets a second season and more budget.

I like a lot how the elemental magic looks, specially fire, so otherworldly

I am glad Shion tried to battle the demon, but I thought he would try more things during the fight. Shion didn't try burning him by touching him, when he tried to suck his blood.

They also didn't try that magic fire on the sword and arrows like they did in the other episode.

Also, you don't have your main character, in the middle of the fight, dedicate himself to protecting everyone, then give up later, that makes them look unfaithful to their promise.

I guess they just wanted to throw in that "fairy blessing" to harm and weaken the demon, but it just made Shion look bad for giving up, yet it did allow the father and friend to hurt the demon with regular weapons after, so maybe it balances out.

I think it was good that Shion thought of just throwing magical energy at the demon, that made his "sorcery" explode and burn the demon. It showed that his hard work of trial and error paid off. He was able to use something the demon didn't know to his advantage.

When the New Episode notify pops up it's like getting a collection notice in the mail
Do I have to watch this? Okay, it can't be that...

OH FOR FUCK SAKE!!! The red filter is still plastered over everything. The whole episode is dedicated to the fight against this demon guy.
Why are we supposed to care?
Who is dis dood?
What's his story?
No idea, but he does typical anime evil shit while laughing...
I don't want to spoil the ending, this is what happens:

this show didn't need the flashy "final fight" "big boss monster" etc trash. it was good with the world building.

This episode made the anime feel cheap. Obviously overpowered thousand year old enemy gets trounced by a teen just learning magic
it's stupid as hell. I feel like the author/Mangaka had a good idea then lost sight of it moving forward.

solid 1.5/5 for the episode.

(Non-manga reader here)

I think its still a sin that this anime on Crunchyroll is rated lower than 'Possibly the Greatest Alchemist of All Time'i, lol.

That aside, while I do think Shion defeating the demon through the power of plot armor is kinda cheap, its what they do after that'll really make the difference. If Shion considers this a total win like how every other Isekai's do it, this fight is a 0/10. However, if Shion interprets this fight as "wow I really still don't know shit and need to improve" and acknowledges that he alone didn't win the fight, then this fight was more of an 8/10.
The animation was pretty meh, but it was still better than some of the fights we got from the finale's of other trash isekais this season.

We have one more episode to go. While this anime is still lacking in some areas, it still stands out pretty unique compared to other isekais, since the gimmick of it is overall really good. Still an overall 7/10 for me.

Literally it was predictable that there was hidden elements of other races in this anime. Honestly, from ep 8 the story got better and this should have been done earlier and I still believe they overstretched the plot.

@Scootboi bro you literally pointed out the good details of this series as trash and the world building was indeed good but it was overstretched in my opinion. Plus, the MC only defeated the demon by luck and after it became real weak. The plot armor was OP in this scenario.

ppl mad about mc beating the op dude missed where it wasn't mc at all, but the fairy that really did the heavy lifting. which is as good a gimmick as any to overcome a powerful foe. and at least this one was foreshadowed, and he didn't pay no price for his victory.

@Wrathberry84 Maybe!? I mean when one is poisoned there body doesn't start to get soft or rot, it just kills your organs or maybe disturb and block the blood flow but I don't think it can just make it like a butter from a stone.

@XArceusX its not poison. Its magic.
Also they couldnt hurt him, because their attacks were blocked by his magic shield. You see a magic aura around him the whole fight. After he got "poisoned" that aura was gibe because he was weakened. Thats the reason they could cut him.

@Wrathberry84 Maybe it's possible that he his magic was acting as his shield, after-all the demon never mentioned anything shield.

About that aura, they kept it vanishing and appearing in the mid fight as well, the animators could even be showing that as effects? Obviously I'm not denying that the demon didn't have an aura, everyone with magic have aura.

And I don't think the demon ever mentioned, that he got weak or his sorcery has weakened after being poisoned.

Among isekai I'm watching, this has the most intense battles, so for that, I am giving this episode a 5 out of 5.

Small nitpick is that the resolution was a bit deus ex machina. The fairy now becomes relevant. I hope they explain it before this anime ends.

Fairy plot armour saved the day. Dk why people are upset about it. People are upset because of this for some reason which is a very common thing. He saved one fairy which gave him the blessing so deserved. And still he has to finish the vampire and he outsmarted him with blue flames which the vampire has no clue about. Hard fought win well done Shion. Great episode, the fight and animation was quite decent. Last two episode didn't disappoint. Let's see how it ends hopefully Marie recovers and a happy ending.

There are demons, a demon who can use magic that disappeared thousands of years ago. This proved that magic existed in this world from the beginning, but somehow, and for some unknown reason, those magics had disappeared from human history until Shion reinvented how to use them. So, the main question is why humans in this era didn't know anything about the existence of magic.

Ok so I looked around and that's what I was able to gather:
1) This work originally started (and still ongoing) as a web novel on Shousetsuka ni Narou (like many other novels that receive anime adaptations these days)
2) Was adapted as a light novel and manga, the former got 2 volumes in 2020 and the 3rd one released in December 2024 while the letter got axed after 3 volumes (19 chapters)
3) Anime covers the first 2 volumes - first 2 chapters in the web novel - that encompass the Childhood Arc
4) The author took a prolonged break between December 2019 and August 2022 (only 3 episodes released throughout this time)
5) Adolescence Arc comes next and is still continuing to this day

@WaterMage

Yeah, I don't understand why they are bothered by the "fairy blessing".

This made sense according to what we saw in previous episodes, this damaged the demon / vampire, and the demon / vampire also said that the fairies are always interfering with their plans, which added to the history that the demon / vampire was speaking about before, that humans had forgotten.

Honestly it would've worked better if when the vampire grabbed him to bite him, after realizing his blood was 'tainted' by fairy contact, Shion defeated him with the move he used to fry the goblin from the inside, he literally just required contact and the enemy was kind enough to touch him.
I totally expected this outcome so I am bit of a let down from the actual end, because no way he was a match for the weakened vampire, the fact it stupidly tried a pure magic attack instead of countering Shion's fire element is the only reason this outcome was possible. If the vampire used water, Shion would be dead. If the fairy tainted blood weakened him a little less, Shion would be dead. Honestly again, going for the move that required contact would have required less luck so less people in here would scream at the asspull or plot armor.
Still at the very least it was luck and not just random OP power awakening thanks goodness..

Also, did the fairy blessing at some point in the previous episodes and I just missed it? I guess it was when they freed a fairy that was in a cage in a goblin(?) camp or something episodes ago? I don't really remember anything that significant from it anyway 😬

True, I didn’t remember a significant “glow” or “energy” from that episode, but I’m going to check it out again.

Edit

Episode 6 has this very quick and small glow of light orbs coming out of the fairy … is that supposed to be the “fairy blessing”?

That is not very noticeable or significant, plus it didn’t show any “light orbs” around the 3 that rescued the fairy.

@ejleon Ah thanks for taking the time to check, and with animation that subtle I feel like anything could be reconned as blessing him at this point 😅😆 (joking obviously).

Also guess that means the scene transitions where it shows a giggling fairy go across the screen were supposed to show their significance, but it's also weird that the stuff with blessings came in one of the last episodes out of nowhere.

Anyway, cheers again!
