You would have to admit, though, that their law, their culture, and their history does not really lend itself to shooting, viewing, enjoying, or even allowing pornography. I mean, in some places, and at some times, women are stoned to death for resisting a rapist- that doesn't exactly sound like a group of the most open-minded folks on earth.

We're not talking about Arab individuals living in other lands, we're talking about the laws of Arab states. So, what we're commenting on is Sharia law. Specifically many of its misguided applications to the rights of women and homosexuals.
For instance, if a woman is raped, and she cannot produce 4 male witnesses to testify this, she is seen as a liar in the eyes of the court and guilty of fornication, sometimes punishable by death.
The crime of sodomy is also punishable by death in most Arab countries.
A woman can also not divorce her husband without his consent. A man can legally divorce his wife by saying "I divorce you" three times, or as recently ruled, through a clearly worded text message.
Men can marry non-Muslims but women cannot.
By law daughters inherit half as much as their brothers.
That's just off the top of my head...the list goes on and on.
Exactly what I mean by the arrogant western attitute. Those things you mention are common for some arab countries but has nothing to do with being Arab but having a backward mentality.

you see, it is hard to judge something when you are not fully aware of the culture. It is easy to read some facts on the Internet, however, you can not be an expert this way.
In arab culture, the man is financialy responsible to provide the needs of the family. If the wife has a job, her income is hers. she doesn't have to spend a penny on the rent, food, bills.
I am not saying we have the best way of life and our rules and laws are the best. However, This way of life has been the way it is for a long time, and most people are fine with it. If change is needed, it must be done gradually and smoothly, and it has to be what we want Not what others think is best for us.
