Pretty much a save the world type of season finale. It's a very fitting one that unites all the wizards under the same cause.

Feels kinda rushed but they got a decent chunk of characters showcasing their talents in this. The monster bird and the undead stuff...meh, I wasn't really invested into that part. Feels like they had to fill in the hole to have something the wizards would have to fight in the finale.

The wizards having to save the kingdom from the Great Calamity and the monsters affected by it, plus allay the kid of Jude who has the Moon Stone in his hands, now extracted for the safety of not just him, but the wizards as well.

The remaining calamity is the Umbra Volans phoenix, which targets Arthur, plus the unknown wizard of Nova, and to bring the kingdom back to restoration.

Rushed finale, and just not worth remembering at all.

For now, the wizard managed to save everyone, and they were able to celebrate the ceremony. People love them, and it ended on a happy note.

Still, we don't know who Nova is or what his true intentions are.

The show was decent but nothing noteworthy.

Imo coming from a studio that doesn't have a colossal budget I found that the animation of this episode was pleasant to see! The way Nova disappears into Mithra's gate was funnier in the game as well as Nero and Bradley's reaction because Mithra really didn't care about the information while in the anime it gives the impression that it was rushed (even though it was done on purpose). Overall I really enjoyed seeing the Mahoyaku anime however I still think that making a 12 episode anime was really a BAD idea and that's the reason why it was rushed. It's understandable that anime only people found the anime sloppy (the pacing of Mahoyaku is better in a video game than in an anime) and that those who played the video games are not happy because a lot of scenes were cut. Personally I'm still very happy to have had this anime adaptation even if some passages didn't satisfy me I still found it enjoyable. However Akira in the game is supposed to be a "narrator" however she never thinks and never speaks in the anime compared to the games and the flash scenes don't help her case at all. if one day there is a season 2 I hope they will do something about that. however I'm glad that we got to see what she thinks about wizards during this last episode because it's a very interesting passage on her relationship between her and the wizards and I'm happy with the scene where Akira helped Oz use his power despite it being darkšŸ™ I really hope there will be a season 2 one day anyway because it's true that more than 21 wizards presented in 12 episodes is complicated and a season 2 would really help to get to know the characters better

Cerberus is drawn quite nicely, plus the dragon in episode 5. I enjoyed this episode the most because it featured more battle scenes, which were the main thing I was looking forward to when the anime adaptation was announced. Although the effects aren't as impressive as the promotional animation video made by A-1 Pictures in 2020, I was still happy to see how Lidenfilms differentiated each wizard's magic during the scene where the Western wizards and Arthur fight the bird.

Well I canā€™t say Iā€™ll miss this one. Along with Princess lessons and Beheneko, worst shows of the season.

If anyone would ask me what this series was about, no idea. I got lost way to early to enjoy this show, if that is even possible.

@ApfelMyName the plot was supposed to be the wizards fighting against "supernatural threats" due to the great calamity and they were supposed to prepare for the next one in a year but the anime presented the plot poorly and the synopsis doesn't help...

They did a fantastic job with the finale, the direction and animation budget was definitely saved for this, and as much as I wish for more so peoplesā€™ first impression of mhyk would be less. like This, Iā€™ve been realizing that there IS a lot of care and conscious effort put into every (okā€¦most) scenes, and this ep shone beautifully as a result! Totally get that itā€™s a series thatā€™ll fall flat for people new to the franchise, but my enjoyment is all that matters at this point. Seeing a lot of the scenes I was looking forward to finally animated, and them actually using the animated medium to enhance these scenes (ie: panther heath, nicholasā€™s transformation), like the stage did an incredible job but actually getting to see how grotesque and large Nicholas-bird looked in the animated adaptation was a different kind of experience for sure. The more varied angles, background shots, and directing for this ep definitely made the world feel moreā€¦alive and grand, the flying animation was improved SO much here, I am the happiest person ever. Everything that I wanted (more of the wizards actually using their spells too!!) from previous eps was provided!!!

Not to say this wasnā€™t rushed. This was INSANELY RUSHEDā€¦ā€¦ā€¦ā€¦like ALL of the last few chapters were packed into ONE episode like thatā€™s. really not the way to adapt a finale esp with how slow they made ep 1 but too bad, my enjoyment cannot be diminished, for me specifically the payoff here was worth it, we got enough anime-original-direction-type scenes (heath transformation sequence, owen struggling to drag Cerberus back into his suitcase, western wizardsā€™ dramatic stand against the umbra volans), dawn breaking and Oz getting his magic back at that moment, so much more show donā€™t tell kinda of feeling that you can only really capture in adaptation form!!!! I was disappointed in the Shylock eating Murr shard scene for a small moment bc it cut out ALL of Chloeā€™s lines until I realized it was basically the best way they couldā€™ve done it quickly with Chloeā€™s :O expression so I take back my disappointment I am satisfied.

Iā€™d like to think all the limitations was budget, an attempt at trying to make mahoani new-fans-friendly, and that they are definitely planning a second cour because of that ;;; totally not delusional at allā€¦.MS1 is basically a prologue after all, and there is SO much more stuff to cover but nevertheless, Iā€™m thrilled to see everyone animated like. We only had that tiny teaser video for how many years??!! So a full half-cour is something Iā€™ve really been taking for granted for the past twelve weeks, thank you mahoani I am sorry for doubting youā€¦ā€¦ā€¦.

@yitsuin Honestly I think that if the anime had lasted longer mahoyaku would not have been criticized this much because it would have been less rushed, the lore would have been better explained and Akira would not have been so "irrevelant"

Now that weā€™ve reached the end, Iā€™m just gonna say I had no idea what was going on the entire time. Every episode had a different plot, but not even in an episodic way because nothing was wrapped up at the end of the episode, they just moved on to something else. Itā€™s not even something that a second season could fix because quite frankly, you couldnā€™t convince me to watch another season after this abomination of a first season.

@nisruyu I FEEL THIS IN MY BONES...........solidarity in the comments section of pain šŸ˜”šŸ’Ŗ seeing all your comments each week always makes me so happy it's like finding treasure while wading through the sea....... I'd have loved 24 eps or at the very least an extra episode or two to flesh out the stuff we got in this one! </3

and ikr, Akira has a pretty defined personality for a jsmk game mc so it hurts to see them cut a bunch of stuff out/reducing her inner thoughts to flashcards and everyone being like. wow she's so boring >:[ she's doing her best with the screentime haha....

but nevertheless, still holding onto the hope for s2......whether 1.5 anni or MS2!!!!!! šŸ˜šŸ˜

@sarybelle There was no different plot in each episode and there was always a link with the following episodes (for example in episode 7 I think Rutile explains the importance of words to his brother and Riquet in relationships and it makes sense since the words of the wizards are what allowed Akira to believe them) but the problem is that it is poorly explained :/

@yitsuin AWW THX šŸ™ And yeah Akira is described as being emotionally strong but they are removed a lot of her inner thoughts which is sad ā˜¹ļø I hope that the 1.5 anni would be animated before the MS2 if there would be the continuation of the anime

@nisruyu It seems like you play the game so of course you donā€™t have any issues understanding that. But for people who donā€™t play the game, it simply makes no sense at all and itā€™s extremely hard to follow how anything is connected. It feels like when youā€™re playing a game with multiple quests and you start one then abandon it and pick up another one. If their purpose was to make people want to play the game, they did a bad job at that as well, so overall this anime was a fail overall other than appealing to people who already like it.

@sarybelle Actually I agree with you so whether I play the game or not I donā€™t think itā€™s a big deal šŸ˜ As someone who plays the game I was able to notice the BIG problem in the way things were developed in the anime compared to the game which are really a hundred times better, that's why I said "that it's badly explained". I have a friend who said exactly the same thing as you about that and she doesn't play the game either. Oh also I played the game a long time ago so there are certain parts that I totally forgot so I had trouble understanding, it took me a while to remember instead of it being direct
