- Keep - Perhaps over-covered but I think this article should be kept as it is well referenced and meets notability guidelines. --Adam Black talk • contribs • uploads • logs 16:59, 9 August 2014 (UTC)
- Keep The article is referenced and about something notable. The list itself is found at List of Star Wars comics, so no need to duplicate that information here. Dream Focus 17:02, 9 August 2014 (UTC)
- Keep - It needs trimming down but that can easily be fixed, Don't see any point in deleting a notable comic ? –Davey2010 • (talk) 18:09, 9 August 2014 (UTC)
- Comment What about this makes it notable? Has it influenced anything notable? How have readers received it? How did it sell? This article is essentially a duplicate of the comics list and offers no new information. Not every piece of Star Wars memorabilia is notable. Notability is not inherited. Nathan121212 (talk) 18:38, 9 August 2014 (UTC)
- Yeah, some were best sellers. It says "Marvel's Star Wars series was one of the industry's top selling titles in 1979 and 1980.[3]" and how quickly the first one met the 100,000 limit, and then apparently sold far more than that. It would be nice to find some actual sales figures. Dream Focus 18:47, 9 August 2014 (UTC)
- Keep. Definitely notable. NickGibson3900 - Talk - Sign my Guestbook 00:07, 10 August 2014 (UTC)
- WP:clearly notable is not a valid afd argument. Nathan121212 (talk) 14:58, 10 August 2014 (UTC)
- Others already mentioned why it is notable, the references proving that, so no need for everyone to have to actually say "It meets the notability guidelines, so its clearly notable." Dream Focus 20:10, 10 August 2014 (UTC)

- Comment If one of these comic books was a bestseller, maybe this article on Star Wars comics in general can be deleted and an article can be created for the bestseller? Nathan121212 (talk) 19:37, 10 August 2014 (UTC)
- Its about the comic books for this franchise, they having more than one bestseller. This list what companies got publishing rights when and how, and when they published different series. It isn't just about the main comic book series called Star Wars. Dream Focus 20:10, 10 August 2014 (UTC)
- Keep. I see numerous (at least 7) references to reliable sources in the article. This clearly indicates that it meets WP:GNG. JulesH (talk) 21:13, 10 August 2014 (UTC)
- Almost all of the sources on the article link to a database website simply to prove that the comics exist. There is nothing in the article detailing sales or reception. Nathan121212 (talk) 16:39, 11 August 2014 (UTC)
- That isn't true. The sources point to various things reliable sources say. Many talk about the change of licensing from Dark Horse to Marvel. Star Wars comics are notable enough to get entire articles written in reliable sources about that, such as [1]. Dream Focus 18:17, 11 August 2014 (UTC)
- A pre-release snippet of info? What happened after the comics were released? How were they received, what impact did they make among the Star Wars community? You may find sources on their release, but not much more after that. Nathan121212 (talk) 05:07, 12 August 2014 (UTC)
- There is referenced information about other things already, not just recently. According to former Marvel Editor-In-Chief Jim Shooter, the strong sales of Star Wars comics "saved" Marvel financially in 1977 and 1978.[2] Marvel's Star Wars series was one of the industry's top selling titles in 1979 and 1980.[3] It is notable because it sold well, and it helped save that company. Dream Focus 05:30, 12 August 2014 (UTC)
- Nowhere in source 2 does it say Star Wars "saved" Marvel. Is "saved" then a made-up Jim Shooter quote? Nathan121212 (talk) 15:05, 12 August 2014 (UTC)
- "In the most conservative terms, it is inarguable that the success of the Star Wars comics was a significant factor in Marvel’s survival through a couple of very difficult years, 1977 and 1978. In my mind, the truth is stated in the title of this piece." And the title of course being "Roy Thomas Saved Marvel", and the article mentioning how he had the idea and "Roy got the deal done and we published Star Wars." Perhaps reword it. No reason to have the word saved in quotation marks. Dream Focus 15:21, 12 August 2014 (UTC)
- Keep. Maybe this article should be edited down, but the topic of Star Wars comic books is notable enough to have been covered in mainstream newspapers, not just comics-related media. See Los Angeles Times syndicated article, Associated Press article, New Straits Times. --Metropolitan90 (talk) 02:19, 16 August 2014 (UTC)
