  • 🤷‍♂️Most people struggle to tell 5 stories about themselves.
    It's not that you don't have interesting stories, you just don't take the time to note them down!
    Moving forward in your life, anything that emotionally MOVES you, take out your phone and capture the story. Try to capture every element of the story such as- what happened- when it happened- who was involved- where it took place- dialogue- themes- the point of the story.
    These are core elements you should capture to tell a good story!
    Practice becoming a great collector of stories and you'll become a better storyteller.

      @asgacc8789 Год назад +41

      I remember not knowing how to tell a story. I was fresh out of highschool. I needed a way to naturally introduce myself to others. Because especially in casual situations, just stating details about myself would feel like I'm being interviewed. As I was watching a movie on my telly, a lightbulb moment hit me. I should introduce myself with stories. I have a ton of stories, I wondered which ones I should use. So I start by classifying them. I figured that I should have stories that put myself in a good light, stories that put someone I know in a good light, and a story where I messed up to show that I'm human and allow the listeners to not shell up. I did some preacticing with telling the stories. See how friends react to stories I tell. I found out my stories have good "pull". I'm also good with keeping them interested. But I found that I'm bad with ending a story. They're usually quite abrupt.

    this works if you tell somebody else your story as well, the reason why we won't tell them on the spot is because of missing keywords.
    One of my favorite stories that always comes to mind when someone says tell me a story is about how when I was younger, I used to always take the bus to school. One friday afternoon, last day before summer holidays, nobody said "enjoy your holidays" or "see you in two weeks" so it didn't click for me.
    On the following monday, I woke up and went ro school normally, not knowing i was on holidays. It was after 7 bus stops and a still empty bus that I asked the driver "why is the bus empty" to which he looked at me all surprised and said "... aren't you supposed to be on school holidays?"

    This is actually beautiful but for a different reason IMO. Its also why i think pictures are amazing. There are so many memories that we have stored in our brain, and there may be a story that we thought of for the last time and will never think of it again. However sometimes i go through my camera roll and its literally like going through memory lane and basically recalling my whole life. A single picture can make you recall that memorie and that leads to recalling how you felt and makes you feel that way again :D
    So my advice, take one picture of an event in your life that moved you. And you dont have to take the pic during the event, if you were at a concert you can take the picture on the way there or on the wy back, and the pic will work as a key to unlock the memory whenever u want :D

      So maybe later on,i shid try taking pic of something memorable or something that i want to cherish and store it in my notes so i can remeber memories from that particular events alone and i live writing poems but dont get a topic lol so wditing a poem abt it wud be improving my poem skills as well..Ive got this idea from u so thabks lol and im naturally very observant.

For example, what do you do for a living? Work on it? Write it out and come up with an amazing answer. So the next time people ask you that you have a way above average cool answer.

    I literally started this today. I don't plan on writing a memoir, but I wrote a 1 page 'story' about what inspired me to write my first SF book. I don't ever plan on telling that story, but in a way, it can be used an answer to what may very well be a common question from others: so why inspired you to write this book. Voila. A canned response and on the spot story all in one. I like the idea of the story bank as well. The next short should be the best formula for telling a quick story so as not to bore people. I have quite a few interesting things that happen to me, but have trouble 'hooking' people from start to end during the retelling of it.
