| In an effort to better present notifications and alerts to you on MyAnimeList, we're pleased to announce the first release of our new combined Notifications system. The first phase of the new system will only incorporate your friend requests and a new, much requested feature: profile comments! The notification symbol (top right 'bell' icon) can maintain one of three states: Orange - You have new and unread messages. Blue - You have previously seen, but still unread messages. Light Blue - All your messages are marked as read. You can read/mark notifications by clicking on each individual item, clicking the checkmark next to the date, or by simply clicking "Mark All Read" (top right). A history of read notifications is kept for 30 days within each category (Profile Comments, Friend Requests) on the Notifications page. Please note that pending friend requests marked as "read" are removed if not dealt with before 30 days. We sincerely hope you find this new notifications system a benefit and improvement over the previous navigation bar implementation. We also appreciate your patience as we continue to add other areas of MAL to this new infrastructure. |

| Flashy notifications are basically drugs and the cynic in me despises them, but I can't wait for my next fix. Besides, this update is useful in that I know longer have to check my profile for comments — an activity that I definitely do not engage in anymore than is strictly necessary! So, thanks! |

Really really annoying at time. I would be more happy is someone quotes me and I get a notification but I guess that's impossible to implement Great stuff though. |

| now when will we get notification system when we comment to other's forum post or someone else quotes/reply my post ....can't count how many times i missed forum converstaion/i've have to keep refresing page just to see if some one has replied my post or not..just put it already as big as website like mal i'm surprised this hasn't happened up to now |
