    2- NTA, is she crazy? It’s YOUR husband's wedding ring! That ring is litterly a symbol of your union with your husband!

      I would also tell the person receiving it in the will that you never wanted your dil to have it. That way when you die, they are not likely to be pressured to "fix a mistake" because dil is telling them that you promised her she could have it, but didn't fix the will in time

    Story 2: Its concerning that Jenna knew about the post like 5 minutes after OP made it. That happened to me once because my ex-husband was stalking me and I made a throw away blog post about finding out that he had a new (barely legal) girlfriend. This is really scary for OP, she needs to figure out what's going on here.

    Also, the family saying OP should let it go because the baby is okay... Right. The baby IS okay... this time. If someone kept pushing your child into the street you wouldn't think it's okay because they avoided traffic this time. You'd know they're an ongoing danger.

    The wedding ring……..how dare she! I lost my late husband 5 years ago and I could not and will not let someone have it. My husband and I did paranormal investigations for years together and now when I do them I make sure he’s with me. His ring is on a chain around my neck when my team and I investigate.

  • @mage1439
    @mage1439 3 месяца назад +63

    Story 7: I hate that OP has let redditors convince her that she failed somehow. If people take ALL the leftovers, they know what they're doing. You take something, you don't take everything. Just because OP and her husband didn't watch over everyone's shoulder and showed a little (unfounded, as it turns out) trust doesn't mean it's their fault people did this. But at least they now know their family will happily leave them in the lurch.

That's at LEAST 24 hours of prep work, still has to clean after the gathering but she should have had to babysit grown ass people to boot? Did hubby or any of the other guests help in any way? @NLance 3 месяца назад +9

      Not to mention they took back unopened dessert they brought as well. The least you can do is open it, leave some for the host and take the rest. It seems like that person contributed nothing. Plus you dont just take all the food you brought. You leave some for others and for the host. That is just crappy behavior.

    • @tully6648
      @tully6648 3 месяца назад +8

      Right? OP shouldn't have to supervise to make sure people are showing basic manners. They could've left _at least_ one portion per person at the host's house, but they didn't. Wholesome wedding band story time: my parents divorced a decade before this, when I was 9, but they were both really involved in my life and despite them not liking each other much, they made all the efforts in the world to gove me the best life possible. All that to say that their wedding rings did not mean much to them but it did to me. After my dad passed away from cancer, my mom gave me both of their wedding bands, and I turned them into a necklace, with the smaller one attached in the other ring. I also added a little heart in the middle. Now, I always have a part of my family with me

    Story 7: how could anyone consider OP the AH for simply being upset that her guests took all the leftovers? Story 5: relate so hard. I've been calling this my "emergency room" year. Instead of brat summer or even a vintage hot girl summer, i had "hot wheelchair summer". It can be hard to tell how much of your anger is because of the pain or because people are actually being unreasonable and its often easier to blame yourself as the problem because it takes so much energy to defend yourself and you need that energy just to exist. And sometimes the pain and the grief of becoming disabled does make you TAH, it hurts emotionally and psychologically sometimes more than it does physically, you just can't be around intentionally hurtful people, you literally can't survive that kind of energy drain when you're chronically ill.

    With the food situation- I always hosted & made a lot of food. What I learned, early was to put away the food we wanted to keep and leave what was available to take on the kitchen table (we ate in the dining room). We also provided bags & to go Rubbermaid, but I made it clear, take what you want FROM the kitchen table. Our leftovers were out away. Yes, it was a PITA to do that after all the cooking & serving, but I wanted my own pumpkin pie for breakfast the next day 😅😅😅. Usually people don't mean harm or anything, but they will take home everything if you're not careful & are a good cook.

    As for the whole "borrowing" thing, OP would have clearly never seen the ring again. I love when people ask to borrow something and you know full well what their intentions are.

    Post 1- if someone knew my partner was cheating, or being a dick to servers, or hurting puppies or littering for chrissakes, they better tell me. And I would expect them to tell my partner if I did anything effed up.

    Story 2-Once again someone feels entitled to someone else's belongings. I've heard something like this so many dang times involving either blood relatives or people that married into the family. No one, and I mean NO ONE decides what you do with your things besides you. Imagine bullying your MIL or anyone because you decide you want something that they have. Sounds like OP has at least some support, and I hope she stands firm. Do not let anyone take the ring from you OP, or anything else of yours. I have no doubt she would 'lose' it to keep it for herself or sell it because of what she said about the ring. You let it out of your sight you will never get it back.
    The vultures are starting to fly to see what they can pick from you before your even dead. I agree with another comment about updating your will. OP shouldn't have to lock up her own property though because someone wants to 'borrow' it. Make sure no one else has keys to your home so it doesn't go 'missing' and invest in cameras.

    The second story made me so mad. Who are Jenna or the son to be chastising or guilt tripping OP as if she’s a child acting out??? It’s infantalizing and disrespectful. I’m so offended for OP and it’s not even my family or my ring. Jenna’s also straight up lying about her clients - unless all of her clients are really big fans of Reddit for some reason, there’s no way they found this post and started dropping her unless she told them about that situation and it turned them off for it. This is going to be the entire relationship with Jenna unless someone else becomes her target. She’s a spoiled brat

    If her husband‘s wedding band doesn’t fit snuggly on her finger, she probably can’t wear it every day, but I’ve seen plenty of examples of memorial pendants being made out of the deceased partners band. All they do is attach a piece to the top of it so that it can stay on a necklace without getting scuffed up by the chain and she could wear it every day

    Story 1: I was in the same situation as OP, but I didn't have the wherewithall to film because I was so shocked at the time. It happened in the middle of the day between classes our senior year, where both my friend and her boyfriend were well known as a COUPLE, so the likelihood of the cheater being caught was insanely high. My friend was away that day on a school project, but many, many people knew they were together for a while at that point, and here he was making out with some random underclassman for all to see.
    I told my friend right away, but she never believed me and married that idiot not long after. They got engaged and married very quickly against both their families' wishes. Low and behold, he cheated on and abused her for years before HE divorced HER and disappeared from her life that he had now ruined. I wish I had pulled out my damn phone.

    Story 2 - Why would a GIRL want a MAN’S ring?? It’s not like men and women’s rings would fit on each other because of the way they’re designed? I recon she’s planning to pawn it for money or alter it into some other jewellery for herself. Why she wants a men’s piece of jewellery is the real question I’m thinking about.

    Story 2: The ring is not sentimental to the daughter any more than a toaster her dad bought is. The ring is just pretty and her dad is an excuse. It’s a symbol of the op and her late husband’s love, which means NOTHING to the daughter if she doesn’t even respect her stepmother’s strong connection to it. EDIT: It’s not even the girl’s dad’s? She’s a daughter in law?? What an entitled KOOK!!!

    The baby cerael one, I was on grandma's side because when the baby gets older milk isn't enough to fill them so most doctors recommend putting baby cereal in milk so they have something more on their tummy and its a good way to start introducing food.
    Then I found out the baby was only 4 months, no where near the age for that.
    And the cereal was fruit loops, something very sugary and (at least here in America) the dyes can have Red #40, a dye made out of petroleum. If he had an allergic reaction to it, you never would have known he had fruit loops in his bottle if you had not caught her.
    Just no MIL
    Just No!!!
